Ecological Ed-Ventures: Programs for Grades 3-5
The Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is more than just birds. This urban nature center is a working example of green practices and demonstrates the close link between humans and the environment. To further explore the many unique relationships found in nature, we have developed three new programs correlated to Florida’s Sunshine State science standards, available beginning fall 2005.
Each of these hands-on learning experiences incorporates a live raptor into the curriculum (listed in parentheses in the descriptions below), and cost includes pre– and post-visit activities for use in the classroom.
Caught in the Food Web
Explore what links animals, the sun, and plants together and see how these connections are altered by natural and human induced disturbances. (Crested Caracara)

Survivor Tactics in the Wild
Discover what makes one animal a better competitor than others in the struggle to meet basic survival needs. (Great Horned Owl)

How Do You Know That?
Open your eyes and ears and explore the world around you. Students will become detectives using observation and analysis to solve wildlife clues. (Red-tailed Hawk)
